medieval castle at lassay The RegionMayenne is a lovely department, and La Tranchardière is just inside the Normandy-Maine Regional Natural Park, which is very wooded with lakes and rivers. There are plenty of birds, butterflies and wild flowers. The weather is hotter than England in the Summer, with beautiful Springs and Autumns. The Winters are colder, and in March there may be some snow. For the energetic there are excellent walks, and cycles are available. A golf course is 10 miles away at Bagnole-de-l'Orne, with other 9 hole golf courses within 20 miles. Fishing, tennis, swimming and horse riding are also available locally.
