The Garden
Le Pommier has its own gravel front yard (good for boules, which are provided), and can be lit at night. There is also a barbecue, and a picnic table which can be moved to the shade of the apple trees in our orchard.
Shopping
Couptrain, the nearest village, is 3 kilometres: a pleasant ½ hour's walk, or 5 minutes by car: it has a small food shop (for bread!) and a highly recommended restaurant. There are towns with supermarkets about 8 miles away.

The Region
Mayenne is a lovely department, and La Tranchardière is just inside the Normandy-Maine Regional Natural Park, which is very wooded with lakes and rivers. There are plenty of birds, butterflies and wild flowers. The weather is hotter than England in the Summer, with beautiful Springs and Autumns. The Winters are colder, and in March there may be some snow. For the energetic there are excellent walks, and cycles are available. A golf course is 10 miles away at Bagnole-de-l'Orne, with other 9 hole golf courses within 20 miles. Fishing, tennis, swimming and horse riding are also available locally. Unspoilt old villages and towns provide a wealth of rustic and architectural treasures to inspire photographers and artists.

This is an ideal place to recharge your batteries in tranquil surroundings.
