Paintings
The originals of temperate climate plums were created for the book "Plums" by Jim Arbury and Sally Pinhey (See Books page).
The plums from which they were painted mostly came from the RHS garden at Wisley where Jim is Fruit Superintendent. A few came from Brogdale Horticultural Trust in Kent.
It took 3 years to paint all 58 specimens in the book, catching each plum at point of harvest for perfect coloration for identification. When all 19 plates were exhibited together for the first time in Westminster, I was struck by the charm and variety of colour in plums. The exhibition was awarded the RHS Silvergilt medal. It is now being split up to go into private collections.
This is a unique opportunity to buy the original watercolour illustrations from the definitive guide to Plums, by Sally Pinhey and Jim Arbury. A few remain. Each measures approximately 12 inches by 8 inches (31cms x 21cms).
Paintings are shipped in tubes for safe transit without frames.
